Ten years into a musical career spanning 4 albums, Eric D. Johnson the man behind Fruit Bats, will release his 5th album *Tripper*. The album, named after a chance encounter on a train with a cantankerous vagabond, is a fictional work about Johnson and the “Tripper’s” roadtrip across America. The first released cut from the album is *Tangie and Ray*, a travelogue about two people riding in the back of a truck and their travels leaving home and going back to the wild. Its Johnson’s style all over it, a warm 60’s/70’s classic folk rock feel (ELO?) to it that rambles and bumps around with sprinkles of keys, jangly guitars.

Tripper will be released August 2nd on SubPop.
