New Music | Harpooner - Carolines
The pounding drumline instantly brought me in on Harpooner’s newest single, “Carolines,” which hovers around the concept of racial inequality. The Nashville by way of Indiana band is about to release their debut, Rose Park, and I’m eating up this first single.
The pounding indie-rock song features a fierce drumline from Josh Morrow that really insists that you stop and listen now. For balance, the pounding drums paired with strings from Diederik Van Wassener’s violin, which lends that perfect extra layer to sonic landscape, vox and math rock-y guitar from Scott Schmadeke, & Max Mullen on bass. It’s a song that’s instantly going to grab your attention, going to lift you up out of your seat, and make you reach for repeat.
“Carolines,” will appear on their upcoming record Rose Park, which was recorded in East Nashville at the Bomb Shelter with Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Benjamin Booker, Natural Child).
