New Music | Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers – Little Too Late

NBG

[N]icki Bluhm and her merry band of Gramblers shot to Internet stardom with their extremely well done and wildly popular van sessions, in which the talented musicians cover everyone from Whitney Houston to Hall and Oats. As fantastic as these sessions are Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers are so much more than simply a cover band. Their 2008 debut album Toby’s Songs was a critical success and the latest album, 2011’s Driftwood, has put the San Francisco-based band well on their way to becoming a household name.

Nicki has become the go-to-girl for bands in need of a commanding, yet soulful, voice to share a duet, and the Gramblers are an assemblage of highly accomplished musicians. Together they have become a force to be reckoned with and Boston is very fortunate to have Nicki and the boys gramble into town next Thursday (3/28) and hitch up their road warrior wagon to Brighton Music Hall (tickets). With a recent string of triumphant SXSW shows notched on their belt, and an upcoming stop at this year’s Newport Folk Festival, it’s a sure fire bet the rest of the world will have caught on by the time they visit us again; so be sure to check them out in this intimate Allston venue.

To get yourself ready for next week you can check out their latest single “Little Too Late” above, download the track here, and get acquainted with their most popular van session, which features the sweetest kazoo solo ever recorded.
