Review | City and Colour at House of Blues

City and Colour – Fragile Bird Dallas Greene and his band City and Colour played to a sold-out crowd at the House of Blues on Lansdowne street Friday night. The fivesome walked on stage, lights dimmed and immediately started it off with We Found Each Other In The Dark, the opening track off City and Colour’s most recent album, Little Hell. Right from the start the sound was much fuller and overall, beyond anything that is conveyed on the studio recording. Dallas, who stood in a dark shirt, suspenders and bow tie, shared harmonies with his bassist. And not only…

New Music | Perfume Genius – All Waters

Perfume Genius – All Waters A follow up to one of last years best albums, Perfume Genius is about to drop a very strangely named album, Put Your Back N 2 It, included is this poignant, raw song titled “All Waters,” which to me feels more like a teaser than an actual song.  Its quite emotional feeling and actually really beautiful.  Looking forward to hearing the rest of this album.

New Music | Radiation City – Babies

Radiation City – Babies Dream poppers Radiation City released another single titled “Babies,” off their The Hands that Take You full length.  Babies is a dreamy, distant feeling track similar to their “Color of Industry,” that is driven by a  subtle drum loop and employs tons of vocal reverb.  Its a slow burner track that gets better with more listens. Buy The Hands that Take You On Tour: 12/05 – Sacramento, CA – Luigi’s Fungarden 12/06 – San Francisco, CA – Bottom of the Hill 12/07 – San Diego, CA – Tin Can Alehouse 12/08 – Los Angeles, CA –…

Video | Deer Tick – Main Street

Deer Tick’s Divine Providence could be one of the best albums of the year with its irreverant, boozed up, rootsy rock sound.  It’s certainly one of my favorites, and quickly became an album I could not shut off. Check out the video for Main Street, the next single off the aforementioned album, the video is like jackass meets rock & roll… explosions, urination, and set destruction. Buy Name Your Link

Video | The Fling – Dogpile

Long Beach CA’s The Fling are an eclectic kind of rock band that clash together 60’s pop with a bit of contemporary indie-rock.  The surf pop guitars jangle, vocals reverb and swirl and the downtrodden lyrics feel particularly upbeat.  The video itself features the bandmembers meeting their demise from an unknown woman (jilted lover?).  Its a fun video and a damn catchy song. New Music | Kingsley Flood – Black Boots

Kingsley Flood – Black Boots Strap on your boots, our friends here in Boston, Kingsley Flood have released another track off their upcoming EP Colder Still.  This song has been a staple of their live shows and for great reason.  The pounding drums, the trash can clangs, string arrangements all build a sound of rollicking, boot stomping party in an old western saloon.
