New Music | Leslie Sisson – Waiting

Austin/Brooklyn-ite, Leslie Sisson, is the lead female vocalist and guitarist in The Wooden Birds.   Leslie’s voice is something to behold, its quite striking, but can be subdued and relaxed without losing any impact.  Recently she recorded her debut solo record, Harmony.  This is the first cut I’ve heard from the album, and I’m really enjoying it. Give it a listen on her bandcamp, and buy yourself a copy.

New Music | Radio Moscow – Speedfreak

Radio Moscow – Speedfreak

Check out the second cut from Radio Moscow’s new album, THE GREAT ESCAPE OF LESLIE MAGNAFUZZ. As usual its a psych rock exploration of Parker Griggs’ amazing guitar skills. The fuzzy, screeching, hard rock is so well done, and these guys are really putting out some truly amazing sounds. Its a retro foray into the psychedelic, acid laced guitar based rock that will shake you to your soul.

The Great Escape of Leslie Magnafuzz
released yesterday, and I recommend picking this one up.

New Music | Sandman Viper Command – Strawberry Quick

Sandman Viper Command – Strawberry Quick

Check out this track “Strawberry Quick,” from Ontario, Canada’s Sandman Viper Command (one of the coolest band names around!).  The Canadian indie-rock scene is really blossoming with bands like Holy Fuck & Rural Alberta Advantage, and it seems as though SVC wants to help them carry that torch.  Strawberry Quick is a tasty, rock track with a great pop-melodic sense that will get your head bobbing, and a set of quick-witted rhymes that will have you singing along in no time.

Sandman Viper Command will be heading to CMJ for their first stateside show on October 22 at Arlene’s Grocery with a few following dates in Brooklyn, Chicago, and Rochester.

New Music | Phantogram – Don’t Move

Phantogram – Don’t Move

Electronic rock duo Phantogram have released a new track that is straight off their upcoming mini-LP Nightlife. Don’t Move, the first single is definitely a bit different from their previous stuff. There’s definitely more energy and motion in the new track, no doubt an effect of spending the greater part of the last two years touring in support of their entrancing debut album Eyelid Moves.

The six-track LP will be out November 1st on Barsuk and they’re also heading out on a headlining tour this fall. Definitely check out the new track and catch them if they’re gonna be in your city.

Mixtape | Reap a Harvest of Music – September Harvest ’11

This is my mixtape for the wonderful month of September. The cold is setting in, and we’re all scurrying around looking for the last bits before winter, and this is a good time to reap a harvest of music.  I think its a great accompaniment to the ever changing season, and the colder weather, with warm songs that you can enjoy dancing to, and songs you can enjoy relaxing to. Tracklist: Liam Finn – Cold Feet Filligar – Dead Wrong Yukon Blonde – Fire Benjamin Francis Leftwich – Atlas Hands The Dirty Lungs – Don’t Fucking Remind Me Cult Fever…

Video | Butcher the Bar – Alpha Street West

Butcher The Bar: Alpha Street West from morr music on Vimeo. Check out Manchester UK artist Butcher The Bar (aka Joel Nicholson) in his gravity defying video for “Alpha Street West.” Off his latest release, For Each A Future Tethered, the video comes just as he’s about to go on tour with Death Cab. If you go back a few months, I posted his song Bobby from said record. I was drawn to his earnest writing, intimate vocal styling a la Elliott Smith.
