Holy Holy The much anticipated 3rd release (Civilian) of Baltimore duo Wye Oak is just around the bend, and today I caught wind of 3rd track on the album, Holy Holy. Holy Holy is right, this track is awesome. I’ve now heard two tracks on this album, both of which are some powerful music. This album is shaping up to be something we’ll be talking about come end of year, though it remains to be seen. Look for Civilian 3/8 on Merge.

The troupe known as Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros finally released a proper video for their track ’40 Day Dream.’ These songs really never seem to go stale, they are really fantastic recorded, live, and everything in between.
Leave a CommentBrooklyn Art Rockers Parts & Labor just released a second track from their forthcoming release Constant Future. The track, Rest, is one infectious pop track with some major ‘noise’ elements. The spectrum on the song isn’t quite Sleigh Bells noisy, but despite the noise elements (not a bad thing here, actually kind of awesome) the song is very melodic, and the band surprisingly harmonizes quite well.
On March 8, P&L will celebrate the release of the new album with a show at Monster Island Basement in their hometown of Brooklyn, NY (Check out the band’s awesome video flyer HERE).
Check out full tour dates below, including new dates here in the U.S. and in Europe.

1 CommentFollow The Leader New music from our friends to the north, Sloan. The canadian power pop band is releasing their 10th album, The Double Cross, a shout-out to the band’s 20th anniversary. Sloan’s music has always surprised me at how well they look back at the past, but is always fresh and relevant sounding.
1 CommentStone Rollin’ Raphael Saadiq recently gave away his newest single, Stone Rollin’. Saadiq’s 60’s soul pop vibe probably makes him the coolest guy on the planet. The music is smooth, fun, and totally catchy. The track comes from his upcoming album under the same name, Stone Rollin’ which is out 3/22.

Leave a CommentIt’s amazing how Cults have done it, one small EP launched them to this point. It is just considering how damn catchy this track is. Check the video for Go Outside, then check out more from the band here.
2 CommentsMaps & Atlases “Living Decorations” from Barsuk Records on Vimeo. New tongue and cheek video for Maps & Atlases’ Living Decorations. I absolutely loved this album last year, and saw these guys live here in Boston. They are a very interesting band, and sound just as good live. Good to see they are keeping their stuff fresh. Now if only they’d record a new album. Buy Perch Patchwork
Leave a CommentCheck out the video for Peter, Bjorn & John’s Second Chance off their upcoming album, Gimme Some (out 3/29). This video seems to be the second take from their last video for ‘Breaker, Breaker’ off the same album. These two songs are really leading me to believe this is going to be one really fun album to listen to.
