David Wax Museum’s Born with a Broken Heart

Born With A Broken Heart Boston based folk band David Wax Musem craft Latin / Americana / Folk music by fusing Mexican roots with country, folk, and rock.  With an assortment of lesser known instruments (Whats a quijada anyway?) they perform some amazing sounding music.  Gaining momentum after their show at the Newport Folk Festival over the summer, they have recorded a new album and I await the final release here in Boston in February. Their upcoming album, Everything is Saved, which will be released February 3rd, contains the single, Born With A Broken Heart, with a latin rhythm, and…

Secret Sisters ft. Jack White – Big River

Secret Sisters ft. Jack White – Big River (Johnny Cash Cover) by musicsavage This Secret Sisters’ Cover of Johnny Cash’s Big River might just be one of the most rollicking and wild covers I’ve heard in a long while.  Big ups to Jack White’s bluesy riffs and frenetic soloing.  This is such a good time, you have to listen to it.  More than once.

Beady Eye – Four Letter Word

Liam Gallagher’s band, Beady Eye, also known as the Noel-less Oasis, are set out to release a full length album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, on 28th February 2011.  The video above is for the opening track on the album, entitled Four Letter Word. What I’ve noticed between this track, and the original taster they released, Bring the Light, is an all out, Brit Rock band that looks like they’ve found a great sound, and are having a ton of fun making some music, without the distraction of the talented Noel. Check out the video and get ready for a February release that…

Joe Pug Undercover Session

Joe Pug performs a few of his tracks at Undercover – ‘How Good You Are’, ‘Unsophisticated Heart’ and ‘Call It What You Will’. The session is really beautiful and the sound is so fantastic.  Joe Pug’s music is earnest and so enjoyable, I’ve seen him multiple times and I can honestly say, his live shows are really great.

The Decemberists – January Hymn

January Hymn January Hymn is the second shared track from the Decemberists’ upcoming release, the King is Dead. January Hymn is near the archetype for a Decemberist track.  In no way is that a bad thing.  Meloy employ’s his trademark vocals, the subtle echo that feels like a tremble.  The track feels as though its an opener for a huge epic track.  We won’t really know until we hear the album as a whole, but its safe to assume, The King is Dead, will bring the Decemberists into the new year with some fantastic music. Get excited for this release,…

Middle Brother releases Me Me Me

Me Me Me If you haven’t heard of them, Middle Brother, is made of Deer Tick’s John McCauley, Dawes frontman, Taylor Goldsmith, and Delta Spirit frontman, Matt Vasquez.  Together they form a young supergroup that I couldn’t be more excited to hear them play together. These guys are making rock music the way it should be done.  They carry the torch passed on by the Springsteens and Petty’s of yesteryear.  Their first appearance came about at SxSW this year, when they were just the MG&V moniker.  As a member of their mailing list, they gave out a holiday gift to…
