This was one of those nights where it was obvious the band had already outgrown the room.

Long before the first notes from supporting artist Sons of Habit flew, people packed The Sinclair from stage to stairs. The energy filling the venue was palpable.

And that was not lost on Buffalo Traffic Jam, who played like they knew exactly what kind of moment was in front of them. Already armed with songs like Comfort in Misery and Take Me Home the crowd matched the band's energy and could be heard supporting them with full-throated enthusiasm. Newer songs like Too Young to Die, Older, and Taught Me How to Breathe didn’t feel like awkward moments, if anything, they sounded like the next phase already forming and gathering fans for the next step forward.

Sons of Habit—though missing 4/5ths of their members—opened with a warmhearted set that primed the audience perfectly for the evening. Working his way through a combination of well-known covers and originals (like the soon to be released Annabelle) front man Mitchell Douglas did nothing if not charm those who were being exposed to the songs for the first time.

Buffalo Traffic Jam are touring extensively through the fall. Grab tickets soon if you're looking to catch a band that's certainly on the rise.
