#Photos | Haley Heynderickx & Max García Conover + Lady Lamb @ Somerville Theatre
There was a kind of excited energy in the room Sunday night that you don’t always feel anymore outside of a few intimate venues. The Somerville Theatre had a current of anticipation running through it as everyone awaited their chance to hear Haley Heynderickx & Max García Conover's ‘What of Our Nature.’
As people are wont to look for echos of their own feelings, albums such as the duo's latest tend to stand out in today's climate. While there are certainly artist making protest music today, there are few who connect as directly back to the roots of the American Folk Music Revival as these two do on 'What of Our Nature."
Lady Lamb’s set felt beautifully unsteady in the way her best performances do, like the songs were still actively revealing themselves while she played them. Moving between tenderness and complete emotional abrasion, one second half-grinning through a story and the next leaning back to crush a solo. That tension has always been part of what makes her live shows hit differently than the records. Fans will be happy to hear there's a new double-album release coming soon that will be given away completely for free. Stay tuned to her channels for details!
While there appear to be no more tour dates scheduled outside of an appearance at Newport Folk Festival, if you've fallen for this dynamic duo as hard as we have, stay tuned to their channels for more opportunities to catch them live.
