Review | Kris Orlowski - Pieces We Are EP

It’s already December, and everyone is beginning to post their Best Of 2012 lists. But I haven’t begun to think about any year end lists, as I’ve been hung up on some albums that have snuck up on me as the weather has turned colder. One of those albums, which I can’t stop listening to, is the Pieces We Are EP by Kris Orlowski and Andrew Joslyn. The record, which came out in October, is an orchestral folk rock record that features a 17-piece orchestra that makes all five songs sound as equally grand as they are beautiful.

Here at Music Savage, we’ve been longtime fans of Kris Orlowski. He’s a talented guy with a rich baritone voice and impeccable songwriting skills. But his talent really shines with the added help of Andrew Joslyn and their collective of Seattle artists who added their voices to the project. The choir that is featured on the record includes familiar names such as Noah Gundersen, Allen Stone and Kevin Long.

Mountains, the fifth and final song on the EP, is the standout track.
