Song of the Week | Concrete Knives - Our Hearts
This week’s WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is focused on the beautiful region of Normandy in Northern France and shines on the punchy new song, “Our Hearts,” from Caen-based band Concrete Knives. The group officially formed in 2007 and released their debut EP, You Can’t Blame The Youth, in 2011. The following year they signed to Bella Union Records and released their critically acclaimed debut full-length album, Be Your Own King.
After the release of their first album Concrete Knives quickly became the talk of the music world and began a tour that would see the band play 150 concerts, including every festival on the European circuit! That type of schedule would leave a dent in even the hardiest of souls and the popularity of the well-loved band eventually took its toll and the band would go on hiatus for a number of years.
Thankfully for fans everywhere they would reunite in 2016 to record their sophomore album, Our Hearts, with Danish producer Andreas Pallisgaard. The title-track is a glorious return to the extremely catchy choruses, glitzy guitar riffs, and tribal-dance beats that made the world stand up and take to the dance floors. Concrete Knives have returned full of confidence and ready to tackle the world once more. Here’s to an amazing year for the band!
