Song of the Week | Mavis Staples - Little Bit
The latest WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is focused on the stunning new single, “Little Bit,” from legendary soul singer Mavis Staples. The track is from her upcoming album, If All I Was Was Black, out November 17th via Anti-Records and can be pre-ordered on her website.
The ten songs on the new record represent the state of the world in which we find ourselves today. With neo-Nazis waving swastika flags in our streets and race-baiting running rampart throughout the country, Staples uses her powerful voice to once again call attention to the issues at hand. She reminds us that the injustices of the past never truly fade away and to always stand up and fight for equality for all.
This is her sixteenth studio album, and her third collaboration with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, who wrote the songs and produced If All I Was Was Black.
Mavis Staples is currently on tour with Bob Dylan and will be here in Boston Thursday, November 16th @ Agganis Arena
