Song of the Week | The Lone Bellow - Time's Always Leaving
This week’s WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is on the fantastic song, “Time’s Always Leaving,” from Brooklyn, New York’s The Lone Bellow. It’s the first single released from the band’s third studio album, Walk Into A Storm, which will be released September 15th on Descendant Records/ Sony Music Masterworks.
The Lone Bellow started as a solo project by Georgia native Zach Williams who began songwriting in 2005 to help cope with his emotions during a particularly difficult family crisis. For the next few years the musician wrote and performed songs as Zach Williams & The Lone Bellow. Williams moved to Brooklyn in 2010 where fate would bring him together with Brian Elmquist (guitar, vocals) and Kanene Pipkin (mandolin, bass, vocals), and the three would go on to release their critically acclaimed, self-titled album in 2013. In July of the same year the trio takes to the stage for their star making debut performance at Newport Folk Festival. The rest is folk history!
Walk Into A Storm is the their follow-up to 2015’s, Then Came The Morning, which was produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner and band nominated for an Americana Music Award. The first single, “Time’s Always Leaving,” is The Lone Bellow at their finest. The track is a boot-stomping piece of roots rock n’ roll that is sure to be a blast witnessed live!
Speaking of witnessing them live, the tour in support of the new album kicks off September 29th in Asheville, NC and will stop here in Boston Wednesday, November 15th @ House of Blues. Do yourself a favor and get tickets!
