Review | David Wax Museum – Everything is Saved

Chuchumbe Born With A Broken Heart Last week the Mexo-American folk band David Wax Museum released it’s album ‘Everything is Saved,’ here in Boston.  I missed the party, but I certainly was not going to miss getting to hear their album.  They had already released 2 tracks from the upcoming album, and to put it lightly I was extremely excited about both tracks. David Wax Museum – Chuchumbe

Chuchumbe Another track surfaced yesterday (Paste got the honors) from David Wax Museum’s upcoming album, Everything is Saved (due February 8).  Another foot-stompin mexican folk track with some interesting history.  The song was banned in mexico years ago by the catholic church because of its suggestive lyrics (chuchumbe is senegalese for bellybutton to bellybutton) and now it’s made it’s way back to boston.  Everything I’ve heard from David Wax has been fantastic, and this only builds more anticipation. David Wax Museum’s Born with a Broken Heart

Born With A Broken Heart Boston based folk band David Wax Musem craft Latin / Americana / Folk music by fusing Mexican roots with country, folk, and rock.  With an assortment of lesser known instruments (Whats a quijada anyway?) they perform some amazing sounding music.  Gaining momentum after their show at the Newport Folk Festival over the summer, they have recorded a new album and I await the final release here in Boston in February. Boston’s David Wax Museum released their lead single a few weeks ago through their email list.  Yesterday, they release the video premiere to NPR on All Songs Considered. Check the video, and read the interview. Then get yourself ready for their upcoming album, “Everything is Saved” to be released February 8, 2011.
