Scott Hutchison

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post to say goodbye to a favorite musician of mine. As I’m sure all of you know by now the lead singer of Frightened Rabbit was reported missing Wednesday after leaving his hotel room in Scotland. He had left behind a few messages on Twitter that were worrisome but his family and friends and fans held out hope that he would return safe and sound. Unfortunately they found his body this morning. If you were lucky enough to see Frightened Rabbit, or Scott solo, you were more than likely as…

New Music | Frightened Rabbit – Death Dream

Super excited for the brand new release from Frightened Rabbit and I’m very happy to share with you the new single, “Death Dream.” The track is the opening number from the Scottish band’s forthcoming album, Painting of a Panic Attack, out April 8th via Canvasback Music/Atlantic Records. It’s been three years since we have had new Frightened Rabbit music and about the same amount of time since the boys last tour of the states supporting their fourth album, Pedestrian Verse. During those years lead singer Scott Hutchison, along with fellow Rabbit members Andy Monaghan (guitar/keyboards), and Simon Liddell (guitar) recorded and released an eponymous…

Frightened Rabbit – Radio Silence

[S]cottish Rockers Frightened Rabbit are to me, shockingly, and most unjustly, one of the best rock bands out there that people don’t talk about enough. Their live shows are remarkable, they play with passion, write heartbreaking, soul crushing songs, and released an excellent album in Pedestrian Verse this year, why they receive as little praise and adulation as they do, I’m not sure, this is legitimately one of my absolute favorite bands. Check out a brand new song “Radio Silence,” from an upcoming EP, The Late March Death March, as they prepare for a big North American tour this fall.…

New Music | Frightened Rabbit / Manchester Orchestra / Grouplove

[T]his is a righteous collaboration, Frightened Rabbit & Manchester Orchestra teamed up on 1/2 of a 12″ single for Record Store Day with this tune titled “Architect.” It’s a tenderly plucked confessional that begs for more collaboration between these two awesome bands. [A]nd on the other side of the special 12″ is  “Make It To Me,” a collaboration between between Manchester Orchestra & Grouplove. It’s a rock tune with Grouplove’s electronic grooves, it really does feel like a smooth amalgamation of the two bands’ sounds. Look for this single at your local record store, April 20th. http://www.recordstoreday.com/

Video | Frightened Rabbit – Scottish Winds

Check out this fantastic recording of Scott Hutchison performing Scottish Winds.  This spontaneous acoustic performance of one of the bands’ newest songs, which appeared on a tour only EP (click to hear the recording).  Its a great song, that most definitely needs to be on the next Rabbit album.

My Top Albums of ’10 15 – 11

It’s near impossible to pick one top album with the massive amount of music I listened to this year but I thought I’d try to at least give you an idea of what you should grab this year before we start anew.  Yesterday I debuted 20 thru 16; today my 15 thru 11. 15.  Frightened Rabbit – The Winter of Mixed Drinks Frightened Rabbit has quickly become one of my favorite acts out there; and this album was absurdly fantastic.  This was a post post-breakup album with bombastic epic songs about loneliness, misery and rebirth. Hear: Swim Until You Can’t…
