Mixtape | June 2018

Welcome to summer friends! We’re rolling into the weekend and it’s going to be hot hot hot here in the northeast. June was a great month of music, and saw lots of great releases. This mixtape represents our favorite 40 songs of the month, across a broad spectrum of music. I hope you dig it, and as always let us know if we missed something amazing.

Video | The Donkeys – Down the Line

This song is exactly what you need when you are deep in the throws of a gray November day in Boston. The head-bobbing nature of “Down the Line,” intermixed with the near sun soaked (to an almost silly level) visuals on the video scream California, I mean there is no escaping it here, and frankly today I don’t care to. It screams everything we aren’t allowed to have here int he northeast. It’s carefree, gentle-spirited music that is putting a smile on my face. New Music | The Donkeys – Scissor Me Cigs

[C]alifornia may be a land of sunshine and it tends to influence music in such a way, but San Diego’s The Donkey’s seem to reverse the aesthetic with a more drowsy, dream-like state in their newest single “Scissor Me Cigs,” coming off their upcoming record, Ride The Black Wave. It’s an easy, rolling sound that vibrates over a whispy atmosphere with textures and swirls coming from every angle. Look for this single and the rest of the album come June, when we’re all basking in sunlight, and maybe falling asleep in the sun.

Top 50 Albums of 2011 35-31

We all love lists, and we all love sarcasm.  Though, I think its important to reflect upon the last year of music, I’m going to do so through the use of a list.  It was a fantastic year full of awesome albums, and I’m going to count down a bunch of my favorites, and give you something to listen to while reading. 35. Video | The Donkeys – Don’t Know Who We Are

Psych-rockers The Donkeys just finished up a video for the recently released single ‘Dont Know Who We Are,’ off their album ‘Born With Stripes.’ Its a great sunny slow paced rock effort, with a really interesting dreamlike video, featuring piñata sculptures of the band as a gang of greasers.
