Video | The Heavy – What Makes A Good Man

[youtube width=”940″ height=”529″]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wT833yZuO3Y[/youtube] [T]he Heavy premiered their new video for single “What Makes a Good Man,” earlier this week.  The English soul-rock band is about to g out on a big NA headline tour starting next month.  I’ve been digging this track quite a bit, this band has a great feel for mixing soul, rock and blue into music that’s perfect for the party or driving with the windows down and the volume up. Look for their album, The Glorious Dead, The Heavy’s soon-to-be-released full-length album on Counter Records (August 21).

On Tour | Mayer Hawthorne, The Heavy

After his breakout in 2009, throwback soul singer Mayer Hawthorne is on a national tour with backing band The County, and headed our way.  Mayer’s sound is an authentic brand of neo-soul that proves his Motown background, which is exemplified in his popular debut A Strange Arrangement, which quickly became one of my favorite albums of the last two years. Though he played almost all of the instruments on the album, Mayer is accompanied on the road by The County, a full backing band that tactfully fleshes out Mayer’s compositions in person.
