Junip is a project featuring Swedish singer José González and some his closest friends. The band began 10 years ago, but was sidetracked by the success González found with his solo projects, particularly his album *Veneer*. Formed in Sweden in the late 90’s the alt / acoustic folk band released their most recent album Fields in September 2010.

The band plays mellow yet danceable folk with a worldly rhythm bringing a Latin jazz feel to each song. The work of keyboardist Tobias Winterkorn injects rich, ambient sounds while all is complemented with Gonzalez’ soft vocals that have a soothing calming effect. All together, it makes for a rich sonic experience, and one that should not be missed live.

About to embark on a North American Tour, Junip criss cross the country, but begins tonight in Boston at the Royale. There are still a few tickets left over, why not head to a fantastic show tonight.
