UK’s Band of Skulls might have taken a break after relentlessly touring the world in support of 2014’s Himalayan, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been busy planning their next rock n’ roll monster of an attack on the senses. The trio have just signed with BMG and will release their fourth album, By Default, on May 27th. If you had any thought that signing to a major label would somehow have a mellowing effect on that signature ferocious sound I have one word for you.
Wrong!
The first single from the new release is titled, “Killer,” and well my thoughts on the track are right there in quotes. It’s KILLER. While the new LP will highlight the band’s renewed focus on experimenting with sound and writing, the style and raw tenacity that is Band of Skulls is still front and center.
I am really excited for this album. This is band that, in my humble opinion, should be more well known. I hope that the folks at BMG know how to deliver, By Default, to a larger audience. If “Killer” is any indication of what’s to come from the trio’s debut with the label, I believe they will have no trouble at all.
