Yarn Owl – Go In a sea of shimmering folk music with the likes of Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, MMJ or John Vanderslice, Yarn Owl a PNW band, glimmers and shines much like these predecessors. Yarn Owl has released a beautiful sounding album in ‘Montaña y Caballo’. Their jangly guitars and ethereal vocals create an intimate and very lush sound that will have fans coming back to again and again. Definitely worth the $5 tag they are putting on the album. Girl Talk w/Jim Jones – Believe In Magic
While on tour Girl Talk and Dipset’s Jim Jones got together in New York to record an original track with a beat sampled from Honey Cone’s “Want Ads” and Jones freestyling over it. What they have is this fantastic track ‘Believe in Magic.’ Its a super catchy, smooth and one of those songs you’re going to remember when the year is over.

Satellite Stories – Helsinki Art Scene
Fans of the high energy likes of Phoenix, or Two Door Cinema Club will be very interested to hear Satellite Stories, an unsigned Finnish band that makes some really fun music that will get you out of the chair, dance your face off and leave you panting and wanting more. It’s an energetic output with jangly guitars and a hook laden vocal. I’m having a boatload of fun listening to their EP and I’m betting you will too.

He recorded this cover of ELO’s “Mr. Blue Sky” “… live, in one take, in a tiny makeshift tent, at a festival. Its reminding me a lot of some Twilight Singers stuff, not quite as dark but the pulsing piano rhythms and explosive chorus’ leave me thirsty for more of their new album.
