White Sky (Remix) This came across my inbox this morning, and I’ve sat on it until now.  It’s really kind of awesome.  Basement JAXX remixing Vampire Weekend’s song White Sky, from their album Contra.

Jose Gonzalez sings Far Away, on a rooftop.

Coming from Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption soundtrack, Jose Gonzalez really pumps up the gloom and doom on his song Far Away.  As usual, it’s a beautiful song, and his voice lends itself perfectly to the lonely emotion the game promotes. Gonzalez will be here in Boston with his band Junip, November 2nd at the Royale Nightclub, Boston, MA

Tired Pony video, Dead American Writers

Tired Pony, if you haven’t heard of it, is a side project from Peter Buck from REM, Richard Colburn from Belle & Sebastian, Gary Lightbody and Iain Archer from Snow Patrol, Garret Lee, Scott McCaughey and Troy Stewart.  The band also features some back up from M. Ward, Tom Smith, and Zooey Deschanel.  So immediately, this is some kind of superband. Their forthcoming album, The Place We Ran From, has been released in the UK, and releases to the US on September 28th. You can pre order The Place We Ran From from Amazon now.  Look for a US tour…

Chief play Night and Day for Watch Listen and Tell

I’ve posted a video of Chief here before, and actually posted this same song.  But this one stands out, it’s an acoustic performance in London.  The performance is hypnotizing, its a really great song, and sounds so fantastic.

Former drummer of Dr. Dog, Juston Stens releases free EP

Outta Here Lonely Lonely Night Juston Stens, former drummer of Dr. Dog, is offering up his debut EP for the cost of an email address.  With that payment, you’ll be the proud owner of Juston Stens and the Get Real Gang’s EP.  The sound is quite similar in style to Dr. Dog, it’s got that soul rock style that Dr. Dog is known for.  The full length is in the works and should be recorded later this year.  With Dan Auerbach on as producer, this should be a very interesting sound.  Really looking forward to it. Keep an eye out…
