New Music | Radiation City - Juicy
Sometimes it’s just best to go your separate ways when a relationship isn’t working out. But sometimes, sticking it out just a bit longer can bring forth some interesting results. As is the case with Radiation City’s founding couple, Cameron Spies and Lizzy Ellison who as their band and personal relationship was crumbling, got back into the studio to record another album. Sourcing Riley Geare (Unknown Mortal Orchestra) as an in-studio drummer, and employing John Vanderslice as their producer, the two are now close to releasing their third record, titled Synesthetica, and it’s first single, “Juicy.”
“Juicy,” is a psychedelic skewed indie pop explosion that takes holds some of the doo-wop pop equity Rad City had in previous efforts, and explodes it with colors and layers, filling out the sound into a full on pop experience.
If this sound is an indication of where this band is going, Synesthetica will be a pivotal album for this band. I for one am excited to hear more.
Look for Synesthetica, and “Juicy,” to hit your ears officially February 12th on Polyvinyl Records
