New Music | 1, 2, 3 – When The Levee Broke At The County Fair

[W]hat’s a good disaster ballad without a story of a ruined summer fair? I’m not really sure where I was going with that, but the newest single from Pittsburgh’s 1,2,3 is a ramshackle garagey tune about a disaster at the county fair, and well just imagine all that ruined funnel cake. “When the levee broke,” is a tongue-in-cheek tune that hits hard, a scratchy rough affair from vocals to pounding beats to crunchy guitar riffs. The song comes from their exciting sophomore album, Big Weather, which coincidentally is all about dry witted songs of disaster. I kind of love this…

Video | 1,2,3 – Scared, But Not That Scared

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/41862503[/vimeo] Pittsburgh pals 1,2,3 had divulged to me months ago that they had finished shooting a video for their track “Scared, But Not That Scared” off of their fantastic album, New Heaven.  Ultimately spilling the plot for a cultish video that left singer Nic Snyder’s head shaved.  Although I was away for the weekend on vacation, I made sure to note it because its one, a great song, but also a really awesome video.  Check out the video, and see if they make it to the great prairie. We all love lists, and we all love sarcasm. Though, I think its important to reflect upon the last year of music, I’m going to do so through the use of a list. It was a fantastic year full of awesome albums, and I’m going to count down a bunch of my favorites, and give you something to listen to while reading. 25. City & Colour – Little Hell City and Colour – Fragile Bird Dallas Green’s highly praised solo project City & Colour put out their 3rd album, a lyrically moody & morose album about pulling through all of…

New Music | 1,2,3 – Work

1,2,3 – ‘Work’ 1,2,3’s upcoming album sounds like its going to be pretty damn fantastic.  This second single ‘Work’ was just released on AOL Spinner’s mp3 of the day.  Its a crunchy, guitar driven song meant to be a working class anthem.  This seems to be a theme on the album, when their Pittsburgh blue collar song about riding the cheap seats, Riding Coach, spoke of the same theme.

New Music | 1,2,3 – Riding Coach

Riding Coach Pittsburgh’s 1,2,3 just recently signed to French Kiss Records, and are currently working to release a debut album this year.  Their newest single, Riding Coach, is a dreamy-electro affair that’s hazy and downtempo.  Its got a Massive Attack feel, with that sort of hip hop / electronic slowbeat, and they layer atop some smooth falsetto harmonies.  I’m not sure if it’s right, but I’m guessing they are celebrating their steel city, blue collar ideology with a song about riding in the cheap seats.
