New Music | Parts & Labor – Rest

Rest

Brooklyn Art Rockers Parts & Labor just released a second track from their forthcoming release Constant Future.  The track, Rest, is one infectious pop track with some major ‘noise’ elements.  The spectrum on the song isn’t quite Sleigh Bells noisy, but despite the noise elements (not a bad thing here, actually kind of awesome) the song is very melodic, and the band surprisingly harmonizes quite well.

On March 8, P&L will celebrate the release of the new album with a show at Monster Island Basement in their hometown of Brooklyn, NY (Check out the band’s awesome video flyer HERE).

Check out full tour dates below, including new dates here in the U.S. and in Europe.

New Music | Sloan – Follow the Leader

Follow The Leader New music from our friends to the north, Sloan. The canadian power pop band is releasing their 10th album, The Double Cross, a shout-out to the band’s 20th anniversary.   Sloan’s music has always surprised me at how well they look back at the past, but is always fresh and relevant sounding.

New Music | Raphael Saadiq – Stone Rollin’

Stone Rollin’ Raphael Saadiq recently gave away his newest single, Stone Rollin’.  Saadiq’s 60’s soul pop vibe probably makes him the coolest guy on the planet.  The music is smooth, fun, and totally catchy.  The track comes from his upcoming album under the same name, Stone Rollin’ which is out 3/22.

New Music | Galapaghost – Runnin’

Runnin’ Galapaghost is the conception of singer/songwriter/one man artist Casey Chandler.   Chandler under the moniker ‘Galapaghost’ wrote, recorded and mixed his most recent released EP, Runnin’ in the fall of 2010. He has recently just finished a European/North American tour with John Grant in 2010, which coincided with this release. His music is indie folk with a focus on the ukelele. I hear a Neil Young influence in his songwriting, and his title track ‘Runnin’ is really good. Solo plucking starts the song out as a quiet introspective and charming folk track that leads into a heart pulsing, chorus driven song…

Drive-By Truckers – Everybody Needs Love

Everybody Needs Love Go Go Boots, Drive By Truckers newest album was released earlier this month, and as a special treat released track ‘Everybody Needs Love’ off Go Go Boots, as a special Valentines Day giveaway.  The song, is a cover originally by Eddie Hinton, whom the Drive By Truckers in the past have written a song about him (Sandwiches for the Road).  Drive-By Truckers are one of those bands that consistently put out fantastic music again and again; and on this track lend their talents to covering a classic song. Check out Drive-By Truckers on tour: Sat Feb 19…

New Music | Princeton – To the Alps

The Alps Check out new single from LA electro pop band Princeton.  Its been nearly a year since I’ve heard anything from them.  I originally posted on their track The Waves back in April of 2010.  A little bit different of a sound here, more electro-pop rather than their previous sunny, west coast surf pop.  This single and another will be released in late march via Hit City USA. http://www.myspace.com/princetonmusic

New Music | Junip – Näckrosdammen

Junip – Näckrosdammen by Mute Artists Junip today released Näckrosdammen, an instrumental piece in anticipation of the release of a new digital EP featuring “in Every Direction”, a few new songs and remixes. No date for the bundle yet, but as always this is a super smooth jam, Junip’s laid-back latin influenced style is really great to listen to and totally beautiful.
