Once again it has been one hell of a year! And once again I mean that in the absolute best and absolute worst of ways for 2017. When everything around us fell apart we had some AMAZING music to help see us through it all. It’s just this boring old middle of the week day where you have just battled through the first two work days and the weekend is still a tease on the horizon. That’s why I pretty much hate Wednesdays. Unless of course there is an amazing show to attend that makes everything all right for a while. On March 16th the Music Savage gang, and a few hundred of our friends, had a particularly fantastic Wednesday because we had all day to anticipate an evening at Somerville Theater with Rhode Island’s one and…

27 Comments[L]ast week on Friday, March 14 Providence Rhode Island welcomed home their very own Deer Tick a band that really needs no introduction. Their live shows have always defined who they are as a band, and over the years it has matured and gotten better and better. We were lucky enough to take in this great performance that included songs from the latest album Negativity as well as many of the fan favorites that had the Tickheads singing along. Be sure to check out some of favorite shots from the evening by our very own Jamie Reiley.

Again, we were fortunate to have native Texan, Robert Ellis bring his new album and some friends into town for a night we won’t soon forget. Ian O’Neil of Deer Tick opened the show, along Dennis Ryan, and sang a few songs from his side project Happiness, a few Deer Tick favorites, as well as a Neil Young cover in there. It’s an interesting and altogether different…

The Lone Bellow – Self Titled [A]s much as I gripe about The Lone Bellow’s self-titled debut, for me when I hear it, I can’t help but think it’s formulaic, an undeniable focus group created music for maximum broad appeal, and then I press play, and the urge to not like the music that comes pouring out of this Brooklyn trio melts, and I realize just how undeniably great the record is. You can stick your trend derivative anti-qualifiers in a sack, this record is fantastic and they did it on their first try. The Tracks > Two…
