Brooklyn based recording artist Jesse Marchant (JBM) has released a second track off his upcoming album, Stray Ashes, out May 22 on Western Vinyl. His haunting, and lush harmonies exist on this track as they are accompanied by subtle drum and guitar loops. The track feels lonely and desperate, which seems to have been his influence as he put himself secluded in the Catskills to write Stray Ashes. Each listen peels away layers upon layers or gorgeous melodies, as the song pulls you into a delightful trance.

The fourth record titled, Cynic’s New Year, from Horse Feathers seems to already be shaping up to be a favorite of mine. Justin Ringle’s voice is solid gold, that of an angel, and their carefully crafted, simplistic folk music is both endearing and totally goddamn beautiful. Check out the wistful, gentle “Where I’ll Be,” and get ready for their release on April 17th.

Its practically the show of the decade for me here, he’ll be backed up by Shovels and Rope and Robert Ellis, two acts that I never shut up about. I’ll pick the winner randomly on Saturday and see you there on Sunday night. Enter and win.

Leave a CommentFarewell Decade Boys I Like Falling in love with this 7″ from Brooklyn’s Desert Stars, a 5-piece shoe gaze band that is built upon creative and layered instrumentation, reverby atmospheres, and lush harmonies. There’s a pop sensibility to that tracks that keep them more grounded & rooted in a more pop based pastiche where they create infectious melodies, you know the type, the ones great songs are build on. Both songs are available for download, and are both highly recommended. Web | Tumblr | Facebook
